Dr. Cheryl G. Murphy received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany and her Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry. While attending each she worked as a research assistant studying visual development and the brain.While seeing patients, Dr. Murphy makes educating her patients a priority by compassionately answering their questions about their vision and eye health.

She also shares her passion for vision science with others through her widely published articles. Dr. Murphy is a Contributing Editor for Review of Optometry and 20/20, two leading optometric trade magazines. She has also written blogs for Scientific American magazine and Huffington Post Science.
In 2013, she was honored with the New York State Optometric Association Communications Award.
Dr. Murphy provides comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings of all types. She has worked in a variety of practices including alongside ophthalmologists and with Dr. Frank Verdone, a well-respected optometrist who practiced for many years in nearby Holbrook, New York.
