Dr. Christopher Gentile is a founding partner of Sachem Eye Care. He is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry and is licensed to practice the full scope of Optometry. Along with providing general eye exams for contacts and glasses, he also treats most eye problems like glaucoma, Dry Eye Syndrome, and conjunctivitis.
Dr. Michele Espinosa received her Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University College of Optometry. We refer to her as “The Future of Optometry”. She practices full scope optometry, from diagnosing and management of ocular disease to prescribing glasses and fitting contact lenses. Dr. Espinosa is fluent in Spanish and has a special interest in pediatrics and vision therapy. We are proud to have her on our staff.
Dr. Cheryl G. Murphy received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany and her Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry. While attending each she worked as a research assistant studying visual development and the brain. While seeing patients, Dr. Murphy makes educating her patients a priority by compassionately answering their questions about their vision and eye health.
In 2013, she was honored with the New York State Optometric Association Communications Award. Dr. Murphy provides comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings of all types. She has worked in a variety of practices including alongside ophthalmologists and with Dr. Frank Verdone, a well-respected optometrist who practiced for many years in nearby Holbrook, New York.
Dr. Laura Buccellato is a partner at Sachem Eye Care. Dr. Buccellato is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry. She practices full scope Optometry, from diagnosing and treating common eye diseases to prescribing glasses and fitting contact lenses. Dr. Buccellato is an active member of the Suffolk County Optometric Society.
Dr. Buccellato specializes in treatment of Macular Degeneration.
Dr. Valerie Giangrande is a partner in South Nassau Eye Care and practices at Optical Concepts. She is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry and completed her residency at St. Albans VA Hospital. She practices full scope Optometry from diagnosing and treating common eye diseases to prescribing glasses and contact lenses. Sachem Eye Care welcomes Dr. Tracy Brooks! Dr. Brooks started her optometric career as an assistant to an optometrist over 21 years ago. After finishing her bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, she continued her studies at SUNY College of Optometry and became a doctor of optometry in 1999. As a mother of three small children, her warm, caring, and calming personality really shines through when dealing with younger patients. Of course, she has extensive experience with patients of all ages; whether in general optometry, contact lenses, or ocular disease. She is ever mindful of her patients’ busy schedules, and, will therefore, see you in a timely manner. Dr. Brooks keeps up with the latest trends and technology and is ardently dedicated to her profession. When Dr. Brooks is not caring for her patients, she enjoys Broadway shows, traveling to new places, skiing, and preparing delicious meals for her family
